Golden Gate Bridge in the Fog
When I was 9 years old I left home and went to boarding school in England.
It was a new environment and it was thanks to the great people around me that I settled quickly.
I stayed in the UK and graduated at 16. One of my better friendsโ name was Alex Holden. We were the nerds of the class, him openly and me closeted (I was a competitive athlete in many sports, he did not do the sports ๐)
We were more often than not neck and neck in exam results, home work assignments, final grades and we pushed each other hard.
My experience through elementary, middle School and high school was greatly enhanced by his presence in my class, we were good friends.
I moved back to the US after I graduated and I lost touch with him.
He meanwhile became a computer whizz and is now a cofounder of several Silicone Valley tech startups. Heโs a computer genius and he lives in San Francisco!
We reconnected on Facebook and we met up, had dinner and were out until 2am photographing the Golden Gate Bridge in the thick fog!
We shot it from 4 different spots, went off road, to the edge of huge cliffs in utter darkness, scrambled over the Old Spanish fort that overlooks the bay to get the right shot and finally driving through the woods, parking on the side of a narrow road and following the winding train from high on the bluff all the way down to the water.
We talked about life, love, philosophy, photography, travel, the good old days, future dreams, Game of Thrones, old mutual friends and of course the next shot I was going to get of the Golden Gate Bridge ๐
